The Nilgiris: The Tea Auction in Nilgiris has witnessed surges and lows in tea prices due to heavy rains in Nilgiris, over the past week.



Every Wednesday, an online auction takes place at the Indco Tea Auction centre at Tea Serve in Coonoor. Accordingly, the tea auction was held today at the 15 co-operative tea factories in Nilgiris, with 3 lakh kgs of tea up for auction. On an average, tea dust was sold for Rs. 65 and tea leaves were sold for Rs. 62 - Rs. 75. 

The Chamber of Commerce stated that incessant rains over the past week in the district have caused price fluctuations, due to changes in quality of the tea produce.
