Coimbatore: A tree in the rear portion of the Coimbatore District Collectorate uprooted all of a sudden but no one was hurt since there were no passers-by.
Coimbatore: A tree in the rear portion of the Coimbatore District Collectorate uprooted all of a sudden but no one was hurt since there were no passers-by.
The GD School compound wall adjoins the District Collector's office. The Collector had ordered the area to be converted into a parking lot since till recently the area was covered by bushes. Upon the Collector's orders, the area was cleaned. There were Pungai (Indian beech) tree and a Tamarind tree in the area.

The Pungai (Indian beech) tree suddenly uprooted this evening but since no one was in the vicinity and no parked vehicles either, a casualty was averted.
It is said that the tree had already been weakened and since it fell over an old building, a huge accident was averted.
