Coimbatore : Police arrested a man who attempted to smuggle marijuana into the border areas of Coimbatore and seized 3 kg of marijuana from him.
Coimbatore : Police arrested a man who attempted to smuggle marijuana into the border areas of Coimbatore and seized 3 kg of marijuana from him.
In recent times, owing to the rise of marijuana being smuggled into Coimbatore for sale among college students, the Inspector General of Police (West Zone), K Periaiah ordered for the police to constantly monitor sensitive spots across the city and arrest marijuana dealers within city limits.
Lately, there have been reports that marijuana was being sold among migrant workers in brick kilns too. On Sunday, the police investigated a suspect who was detained in Thadagam on orders from Inspector Balamurali. Upon investigation, it was found that he was in illegal possession of 3 kg marijuana, which was later seized. Police have identified the suspect as Paneerselvam (34), son of Ramaswamy from Kanuvai. Subsequently, the police produced Paneerselvam in court and imprisoned him.
