Coimbatore: Lawyers in Coimbatore staged a protest at the entrance of the Court premises denouncing the Delhi police for their attack on lawyers.
On November 3, a dispute broke out between a lawyer and some policemen over a parking space at the Tis Hazari Court Complex. The argument turned into a full-fledged confrontation, resulting in many people being injured in the clashes that followed. Lawyers throughout the country are protesting against the police attack on lawyers.
As part of this, over 100 lawyers from the Coimbatore Lawyers Association staged a protest against the Delhi police in front of the Integrated Court Complex. In addition, the lawyers raised slogans demanding the arrest of the Delhi police. The lawyers said that if the police did not take appropriate action, they would continue to protest.
Balakrishnan, President of the Coimbatore Lawyers Association, said, "The action of the Delhi police has threatened the safety of lawyers, everywhere. This is reprehensible. Therefore, appropriate action ought to be taken on the policemen who attacked the lawyers."
