City-based NGO ‘Food Bank’ organizes a food drive on two days every week. During these food drives food packets, snacks and water bottles are distributed to the needy who cannot afford the same. World Food Day that is observed tomorrow, October 16 is also the first anniversary of this NGO. On the eve of this occasion, this evening, Food Bank hosted an awareness event at the Brookfields Mall.

As a part of these celebrations, this NGO has plans of spreading awareness about themes like hunger-free nation and food sharing, importance of Healthy food including organic food and heritage food, urban farming, roof top farming, need to switch to locally produced food, roof top farming among other subjects through folk art performance. Artists will perform Paraiaattam, Gramiyapaatu, Oyilaattam, Karagama and street play. As part of its initiative to spread awareness, a short film produced on the theme 'Food bank' will also be screened on this occasion. A website will also be launched tomorrow.
