TNSTC employees withdraw strike after the attackers were arrested

Bus #100C of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited (TNSTC) was travelling in Cheran Maanagar in Peelamedu. Thirumalairajan and Subramaniam who were on their two-wheeler tried to overtake this bus from the left side. A verbal war of words broke between the bus driver Selvakumar and the two men on their two wheeler. The verbal war developed into a physical war and the men on the motorbike attacked the driver Selvakumar. An injured Selvakumar was rushed to the Government Hospital (GH) for treatment and was later discharged.

It is also reported that the police took no action against the two men on the motorbike for attacking bus driver Selvakumar. Seeking action against the attackers employees of the Sungam Bus depot staged a protest by not operating any busses. Drivers of more than 200 buses participated in this protest.

This prompted the police to conduct a meeting with the protesting drivers. TNSTC employees stated that the men who attacked Selvakumar also visited the Peelamedu bus depot with more people and attacked Selvakumar again.

The strength of police force was also increased before the Sungam Bus depot. This bus depot experienced tense moments for close to three hours today.

However, the protesting bus drivers withdrew their protest after the police informed them that Selvakumar’s attackers Thirumalairajan and Subramaniam have been arrested.
