The exhibition is held at Gujarat Samaj on Mettupalayam road starting from today till Monday.
At the Coinex - 2019 exhibition, T M Ravichandran, the President of the Coimbatore Coin Society said, "Collecting old coins, currency notes and postal stamps help preserve our history. Old coins denote the reign of a particular era, culture and art. The hobby of collecting coins is renowned worldwide.
The hobby of collecting coins and postal stamps has gained popularity as new trend in India. Students, teachers, Government staff and even businessmen have begun collecting coins and postal stamps as a hobby. Books and essays written by coin researchers reveal the history behind coins.
T M Ravichandran also urged students to organise exhibitions in schools with the support of the Coimbatore Coin Society. Vice President Ramalingam, Treasurer Anandhan, Executive Board members Sampath Kumar, Baskar and Durai Raj, and the President of Mysore Coin Society Dwarakanath inaugurated the Coinex - 2019 exhibition along with T M Ravichandran. The exhibition also displayed detailed information about the Rs.1 currency note which had been released in the year 1862.
