Travel agent who deceived people over crores of rupees in Tirupur arrested

Tirupur: The owner of a private travel agency named 'Travel Craft' on Tirupur-Avinashi Road has been arrested for looting crores of money by making false promises to public of taking them on a world tour.

Tirupur: The owner of a private travel agency named 'Travel Craft' on Tirupur-Avinashi Road has been arrested for looting crores of money by making false promises to public of taking them on a world tour. 

Around 50 residents from various locations in Tirupur and nearby areas paid Rs. 5 to 10 lakhs each for international trips to Malaysia, Singapore and Rs.10 to 20 Lakhs for currency exchange to Manikandan, owner of Travel Craft. 

As even after the specified date, Manikandan failed to organise the trips, the public who paid him money got dubious and approached his office. Shortly, they learnt that Manikandan had absconded with the money. 

The victims registered a complaint at Tirupur North Police Station to help them recover their money, passports and other documents from the fradulent travel agent.



The police who were on the lookout for the fraudster arrested him on Saturday. He was produced at District Court No:1 in Tirupur. Magistrate Kaviarasan ordered to remand Manikandan under judicial custody for 15 days, later he was sent to Coimbatore prison.
