Coimbatore: Just a few days into the new office, the newly formed Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the Hindi Language is compulsory in school education across the country.
Coimbatore: In a draft policy that leaked originally on January 10th which was eventually denied by Prakash Javedekar, the language policy for school education has been proposed that school kids up to 8th standard to be taught Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states too.
The policy which has been uploaded to the MHRD website, proposes that the three-language learning policy to be implemented across India. While Hindi being learnt across India is clear, the other Hindi speaking states will learn one language out of the 8 scheduled languages.
The policy came into light when the draft policy was accepted yesterday and uploaded to the website and is available for feedback till 31st June, 2019. This policy of imposing Hindi on non-hindi speakers has been opposed vehemently in Tamilnadu from 1930’s and brought the Dravidian movement into the mainstream in Tamilnadu politics.
Lots of questions are being raised as to how the policy will be implemented apart from the legal ramifications that are already in place.
