Parthenium plants are seen aplenty on either side of the Kattabettu-Billikambai roads. These plants grow faster owing to the dispersal of seeds by the winds and the onset of heavy rains in Nilgiris district.
Students, farmers and locals who frequent the roads complain that the Parthenium overgrowth has affected their health as well as that of their cattle. Hence, they have requested authorities to take necessary steps to uproot and destroy Parthenium plants in the district.
