In recent times, Coimbatore city witnessed many murder attempts, murder, violence and other criminal acts that robbed the city of its reputation of being a peaceful city. To investigate these continuous crimes, Coimbatore DC Balaji Saravanan formed a special team to collect data about all the thugs who disturb law and order in the city. Based on the information received, he got a written statement of promise under Practical Act 110 from over 300 criminals.
In the event of any one of them breaking the written promise and violating the law, being vested with the power of an Executive Magistrate, Balaji Saravanan had every right to put them behind bars for a period of six months to one year.
Since one of the wanted thugs Aavi Vinodh had violated the written statement given by him earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Police put him behind bars for 313 days. The residents of Coimbatore deeply appreciated his move to apprehend the law breaker to ensure there was no threat to the law and order in the city.
