Tirupur: In a horrific accident, a pregnant woman died and seven others sustained grievous injuries, after two cars rammed with each other on Palladam road on Wednesday.
Tamilselvi (27) along with her husband Logeswaran, parents and relatives were enroute to her mother's home in Udumalaipet after finishing her baby shower function in Anuparpudur in Tirupur.
This evening, as their car reached Arasangadu near Palladam, their car rammed with a SUV enroute to Tirupur.
The public rushed to the spot and retrieved the injured from both the cars and sent them to Palladam Government hospital.
The doctors declared Tamilselvi as brought dead and seven others were reported to have sustained critical injuries.
After administering first aid, all the injured were shifted to other private hospitals and Coimbatore government hospital.
The family travelling in the SUV are identified as Dhandapani and three others of his family from Saavukattupalayam village near Sevur.
The Palladam Police have registered a case and are investigating.
The death of a pregnant women who had just celebrated her baby shower has caused immense grief among their families.
