Coimbatore: Being World Museum Day today, an exhibition of 40 traditional musical instruments was organised at the Government Museum, opposite to the VOC grounds.
Coimbatore: Being World Museum Day today, an exhibition of 40 traditional musical instruments was organised at the Government Museum, opposite to the VOC grounds.
Instruments like the Horn set, Pit Rhythm, Coca, Urumi, Veena, Mridangam, Thavil and other instruments used during festivals in southern India were showcased.

The exhibition is to end on June 5. People of all age groups are thronging the exhibition.
School children were allowed free entry, since the sole idea of the exhibition was to create awareness among people about traditional instruments and their importance. Arthur Pradeep, a music artist from Coimbatore played the instruments at the exhibition and educated people on the importance of each one.

Muthukumar from Coimbatore Kalyani Music Center inaugurated the exhibition, accompanied by Sivakumar, Museum Curator of Coimbatore Government and Sharmila, Museum Guard Coimbatore.
