Coimbatore: Swift action by Fire and Rescue personnel of Coimbatore helped in giving a lease of life to a peahen that had fallen inside a well in Kuniyamuthur on Thursday.
According K.M. Jamal Musthafa from Kuniyamuthur, residents of the Thirunavukkarasu Nagar in Kuniyamuthur noticed the peahen around 5.30 pm. The bird had accidentally fell inside while roaming around with other birds.
Seeing the bird fighting for life inside the well, the residents had called in the fire and rescue personnel who started to rescue the bird around 6.30 pm.
After more than two hours, the bird was safely lifted from the well and was handed over to the forest department.
