Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector, K Rajamani undertook a field inspection and supervised basic structural work at No.4 Veerapandi and Idikarai town panchayat of the Gudalur town, today.

He was accompanied by the Assistant Director of Town Panchayat, Dwarakanath Singh, acting officers Nagaraj, Nandhakumar, Vijayakumar and Engineer Elangovan.

Basic amenities and other infrastructural work like drinking water pipes, rainwater harvesting and road facilities are underway in various town panchayat areas, based on the population of the people. Based on the urban road infrastructural development plan, plans are afoot to lay a road with 2.2 km width from UTI College in Gudalur town panchayat to K Kavundampalayam at a budget of Rs.1 crore. Apart from this, based on the city development plan of Veerapandi town panchayat, a road of about 3.5 km width at a budget of 1.50 crores and a road of 2.1 km length at Idikarai at a budget of Rs. 1 crore are being laid.

The District Collector did a thorough inspection of all the work and also undertook a sudden inspection of the ration shop at Kavundampalayam, Gudalur to check if the pending stock data and sold stock data were on par with the total stock and also advised them to make efforts to sell well. He then visited the Primary Health Center at Idikarai and SS Kulam and inspected the delivery room, infant ward, post-surgery care unit, ladies ward, and enquired about the quality of the treatment being administered to in-patients, directly. He also enquired of the doctors if there were adequate amenities at the Center.
