Santhosh's throat was slit in front of his mother by the gang of men who waylaid them when they were on their two-wheeler. His relatives reportedly murdered him because he had left the democratic party and joined the BJP. The police had retrieved his body on hearing of the murder and had sent it to the GH for post-mortem.
