The Nilgiris : To make the 2019 summer festival more memorable, the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) has planned to run a jolly train trip between Coonoor and Runnymede station between May 27 -31.
The Nilgiris : To make the 2019 summer festival more memorable, the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) has planned to run a jolly train trip between Coonoor and Runnymede station between May 27 -31.
Yesterday being the day one, the jolly ride train was fully booked and the tourists enjoyed every bit of the half hour ride which gave them a close look of the ever beautiful blue mountains, water falls, valleys and the mind-blowing landscape.
The southern railways is already operating special season trains from Ooty to Ketti. Along with it, they have now launched a special five-day train service between Coonoor and Runnymede starting from Monday.
The jolly train service trip comprises of four coaches. The train can accommodate 86 passengers, 56 in the first class and 30 in the second class. The passengers were offered tea and biscuits and free tickets to visit Kattery Park.
The special train left Coonoor Station at 11.30 AM, and reached Runnymede at 12 PM. Again, returned to Coonoor at 1.30 PM.
For an hour, the train halted at the Runnymede Station to allow the visitors enjoy the nature and the salubrious climate. And, also visit the Kattery Park located at the Runnymede railway station.
Bookings for a ride on the special train can be done at the Coonoor railway station. The cost of the tickets are fixed at Rs. 450 for first class and Rs. 320 for second class.
