Coimbatore: Amidst severe water crisis, gallons of water go wasted, after a major pipeline broke in Pungampalayam Village of Marudhur Panchayat near Mettupalayam.

The TNEB staff were engaged in repairing two faulty EB poles in Pungampalayam village on Monday. A trench was dug using JCBs to set right the electric poles. While doing so, a major pipeline leading from Bhavani river was left damaged.
The pipeline through which 350 MLD water was tapped from Bhavani river behind Badrakaliamman temple to Thondamuthur was broken allowing gallons of water splash all over the area.

The TWAD officials rushed to the spot and are involved in replacing the broken pipeline. Meanwhile, the roads are flooded with drinking water leaving the residents upset.
