The Nilgiris: Even as only Flower Show and Fruit Show were conducted during the summer in Ooty, citing Lok Sabha polls, as many as 60,000 tourists have visited the hill town in three days.
The Nilgiris: Citing Lok Sabha Polls, the tourist footfalls were expected to take a hit in the Nilgiris, this season. However, the reports from the district adminsitration has proved it to be false, as over 60,000 tourists have visited the 'queen of hills' in the past three days.
Overall this summer season has witnessed around 1.60 lakhs tourists who have witnessed the flower show.

Over the week, as the hill town witnessed continuous pre-monsoon showers, tourists from down south and north of Tamil Nadu thronged the hill town to get away from the scorching mercury levels in their respective places.
Tourist attractions including Rose Garden, Boat House, Shooting Spot and Pykara Boat, Dodabeda were filled with tourists.

The surging tourist population resulted in traffic congestion in most parts of Ooty and Coonoor, especially the town bus stand.
Places including Botanical Garden, Madhuvana Junction, Fingerpost and Boat House also witnessed traffic congestion forcing tourist vehicles queued up.
As the district traffic police had well planned traffic rules in place, major traffic halts and accidents were avoided.
