The Nilgiris: The 61th edition of the most-sought annual Fruit Show inaugurated at Sim’s Park in Coonoor on Saturday came to an end today with a prize distribution ceremony.
As many as 50 participants who displayed various fruits and created structures using fruits were awarded.
Thousands of tourists thronged the Sim’s Park for the past two days to visit the State's largest display of seasonal and rare fruits from Nilgiris district and other districts.
Fruits grown in the hills like peach, durian, rambutan, plums, tree tomatoes, jack fruit, goose berry along with mangoes and other fruits from Salem and other regions enthralled the spectators.
The mega arch at the entrance of the Sim's park was decorated using 1.5 tonnes of 'uncut' fruits. Unlike the previous years, this year the festival was much appreciated by the public, as whole fruits were used for creating structures and decorative purposes which can be reused.
With this fruit show, the 2019 summer festival of the Nilgiris came to an end on Sunday.
