Coimbatore: Naam Tamilar Katchi's (NTK) Lok Sabha electoral candidate S Kalyanasundaram is of the opinion that his party's vote bank has increased to almost 4 percent in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Coimbatore: Naam Tamilar Katchi's (NTK) Lok Sabha electoral candidate S Kalyanasundaram is of the opinion that his party's vote bank has increased to almost 4 percent in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Though the party did not win a single seat in the parliamentary election, NTK has secured a healthy vote percentage in constituencies like Sriperambudur, Thanjavur and Sivaganga. The party also secured third place in a few constituencies.
The election results and the percentage of vote that NTK secured has given the party hope for future elections. Since the party had undertaken strong campaign roadshows, it helped them get a decent 3.87 percent vote in Tamil Nadu. The percentage of vote that NTK secured in the rural areas are slightly higher than the vote percentage garnered in urban areas like Chennai. The party will now be looking to work in urban areas to increase their vote bank in urban parts of the State as well as in industrial belts.
"This election result is the reflection of ground work that our party cadres had done for this election. We have been working for eight years since the launch of the party and will continue to work for the people," stated Kalyanasundaram. He further added that the party's vote percentage had multiplied four times compared to 2014. "And by the way this election went, we hope that this increase in vote share will further multiply in the upcoming elections. The votes that the DMK-Congress alliance secured here in the State is totally because of the hate that TN people have for BJP and Modi, and so I am guessing that the percentage of vote that DMK got in this election will reduce in the Assembly election," he added.
Kalyanasundaram further congratulated the winning candidate P R Natarajan for his victory in Coimbatore. "P R Natarajan is a good candidate to win and I hope he will work for the people in the constituency," he said. Kalyansundaram further thanked the voters for their hope in him, since he secured around 60,000 votes in this election. "We will continue to work for the people," reiterated Kalyanasundaram.
