Coimbatore: Auto drivers in the city who were already unhappy with the increased preference of customers for Rapido Bike Taxis caught hold of a few bike taxi drivers (also known as captains in their App) for operating without a license and handed them over to the police.
These Rapido Bike Taxis which have been operating in the city for almost a year now were found to be doing so without a proper license, with random two-wheelers being used as bike taxis. This created a furore among auto and cab drivers who caught hold of these bike taxi drivers in Ram Nagar and handed them over to the Gandhipuram police station.

"We, auto drivers, are already suffering from lack of good business, and this bike taxi company has further reduced our chances of earning a decent livelihood. In addition to that, the lives of customers are at risk since they do not operate with necessary safety guidelines or licenses. We are looking forward to a ban on Rapido Bike Taxis," opined an auto driver.
