Coimbatore: A Government bus abruptly stopped right in the middle of a busy road near the Railway Station, today, due to its gearbox bursting.
Coimbatore: A Government bus abruptly stopped right in the middle of a busy road near the Railway Station, today, due to its gearbox bursting.
The bus which plies via Gandhipuram and Ukkadam to Eechanari broke down, causing a traffic snarl for almost an hour. It ended up also blocking the path of an ambulance that was transporting a patient to the Government Hospital. It was only then that police arrived at the scene and diverted vehicles to a different route. The bus was later repaired.
Of late, due to poor maintenance, there has been frequent breakdown of Government buses in the city which has left people traveling by public transport dissatisfied owing to delays caused during travel as well as daily traffic issues. Almost a majority of the Government buses plying in Coimbatore are seen in a state of complete disrepair.
