One among those many was ISRO's ex-Director, Mayilsamy Annadurai who was also the Chandraayan Project Director. He vowed that what was not achieved by America, Russia, China and other countries was achieved by scientists who studied in Government schools who were the ones instrumental in sending Chandrayaan to space.

The Indian Student Council organised a cycle rally at places like Coimbatore, Kadalur, Chennai and Kanyakumari to protest against the adoption of Government schools by private entities and to also fill vacancies in Government schools. As a part of the protest, a cycle rally was flagged off by Mayilsamy Annadurai which will be on for six days via Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Namakkal, Karur and then on to Trichy.

He spoke to the media reiterating that the quality of education in Government schools is improving and hence we ought to encourage children to study Tamil medium in Government schools. Many participated in the inaugural function of the rally. Among them were the President of the All India Student body, Shanu and the President of the Youth Wing Association, Bala.
