According to sources, the victim R Ranjini was the daughter of anti-poaching watcher Raju. It is reported that she was walking to her home in Navamalai near Azhiyar, from the bus stand along with her mother Chitra. The duo did not notice a wild elephant that was lurking nearby and walked straight into the elephant which immediately attacked the girl. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to the Pollachi Government Hospital. Her mortal remains were taken to the Pollachi Government Hospital for autopsy.
