On April 18, Parandhaman (40) a mechanic was hacked to death by a gang of four in his workshop near Podanur - Chettipalayam railway gate in broad daylight. The special police team formed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Balaji Saravanan nabbed the accused using the CCTV footage retrieved from the murder spot.
Ravi (30) from Goldwins, Marudhupandi (30) from Chennai, Navin (25) from Tirupur and Rajan babu were arrested and later remanded under Goondas act. Following their arrest, the city police arrested three others for their involvement in the gang and who were part of the murder plot.
Responding to the plea given by the Podanur police to book the three under Goondas act, Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran on Friday accepted the proposal and ordered to book Devaraj, Maheswaran and Karthick under Goondas act. The copy of the order was sent to the jail superintendent who will intimate the order details to the accused.
