Coimbatore : After almost 20 days, the personnel of the Pollachi Forest Range have arrested three more persons in connection with a deer hunt case registered here on May 4.
The accused have been identified as K Tamilarasan (47), T Ganesan (35) and K Kalimuthu alias Kanagaraj (55) from Marappagoundanur. They were picked up by the forest officials and produced before the Judicial Magistrate for killing a Sambar deer with country made guns.
The trio were part of a seven-member team that killed a Sambar deer at Semmanampathy on May 4. Four people were arrested on the day including Balakrishnan (48) from Semmedu, Sundararaj (51), Prakash (29) from Nedumparai in Kerala and Duraisamy (62) from Marappagoundanur under the Wildlife Protection Act. The team lead by the Pollachi Range Officer, A. Kasilingam were unable to arrest Tamilarasan who managed to escape and was in hiding for so long. However, he was arrested today and was picked up for inquiry. On investigation, Tamilarasan revealed the involvement of Kanagaraj and Ganesan in the case and all three were arrested.
The team has been involved in various hunting cases in the Pollachi Range using country made guns. According to forest officials, Balakrishnan has been manufacturing country made guns in his home and selling them. Earlier, forest officials seized a country made gun, a double barrel gun and 78 bullets from the miscreants, along with a Sambar deer horn and a two wheeler.
