According to reports, the injured along with eight other tourists from Salem encountered the gaur in close quarters while they were on the way to visit a temple in Manjacombai in Coonoor.
The Nilgiris: Two people, a woman and a 12-year-old girl suffered injuries after a gaur gored them at Coonoor's Thoothoor Mattam area on Wednesday.
According to reports, the injured along with eight other tourists from Salem encountered the gaur in close quarters while they were on the way to visit a temple in Manjacombai in Coonoor.
The two persons are related to each other and have been identified as Sruthika (12) and Dhanalakshmi (28).

The locals say that, the lone gaur had been roaming in the area since Wednesday morning. Seeing the crowd, the gaur got allegedly aggressive and attacked them. The gaur ran into both Dhanalakshmi and Sruthika leaving others run hither and thither.
In this incident, Dhanalakshmi suffered minor injuries, however Sruthika is reported to have suffered deep injuries in her abdomen and neck. She is presently undergoing treatment at Coonoor government hospital.
The residents along with the tourists of Thoothoor Mattam protested against the forest department for not chasing these straying wild animals into the forests.
The forest officials, later pacified the people and dispersed them.
