In one such incident, the residents of Kalavai, Kurichi here had to go through an unexpected incident where Irfan, son of Sahul Hameed, lost his life when he went swimming with his friends in the pond.
Irfan (14) and his friends, residing at Kalavai, went swimming in the pond nearby. While swimming, he drowned. His friends went to alert their parents, but then it was too late.
After five hours of searching the police and the fire rescuers found the dead body of Irfan and handed it over to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for postmortem.
