Coimbatore : In a first, an engineering graduate from Coimbatore, who gave up her engineering career to appear for civil services examinations, has been appointed as the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF).
A.Sharmili, a Coimbatorean who resides in Race Course, has got the 6th rank in the State in the exam that was held by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, to select candidates for the existing Forest Ranger Officers and Assistant Conservator of Forests vacancies.
Sharmili, who completed her engineering in 2016, appeared for the exam as a part of her civil services preparation.
A total of 14 candidates have been appointed along with Sharmili all over the State and she is the only female candidate from Coimbatore, and the first ever according to her.
While she has been selected for the post, Sharmili has not been appointed as ACF in a particular so far.
Notably, many women have been selected as ACFs in the past including the former ACF of Coimbatore.
