The main source of water for Coonoor municipality is from Raliah dam and Gymkhana canal which is stored in the Grace Hill water tank. From the Grace Hill water tank, water is disbursed to the 30 wards in Coonoor.
In this state, there has been continuous waste of water from a water tank for the last 20 days and people have alleged that authorities have not attended to this issue.
In this network of supply, the water tank near Ottupattarai Morris Garden has been overflowing and wasting gallons drinking water. Despite alerting the officials, the public allege the issue was left unattended.

"While the town is reeling under water crisis, such callousness in attending to the issue by the municipality officials is shocking. There are wards who get water once once in 18 days. In this scenario, such wastages should be addressed on priority", opined a resident of Ottupattarai.
