Coimbatore: "The opposition are perturbed by the support people have showed for Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). Fearing defeat and unable to garner people's attention fairly, they have denied permission for our President's campaign to Sulur today", slammed G. Mayilsami, MNM candidate for Sulur by-poll on Friday.

Addressing the media during his last day of campaign, MNM Candidate, Mayilsami added that by denying permission to one Kamal Haasan many Kamal Haasan's have gathered for today's campaign and made it a great success.

The last day did not start well for MNM, as their party President Kamal Haasan's campaign at Sulur was cancelled. Citing security reasons, the election officer and the district superintendent of police denied permission for Kamal Haasan to go ahead with his last day campaign in Sulur.
Though upset, the spirited cadres stood strong and exhibited their strength by organising a road show on Friday evening to garner support of the voters of Sulur constituency.
Hundreds of cadres in their two-wheelers along with the electoral candidate commenced their rally from Chinniyampalayam to Thennampalayam, Somanur, Sultanpettai and ended at the MNM election office in Paapampatti.

The aggressive campaign at Sulur came to an end on Friday and preparations are ongoing for the election day on May 19.
