Based on a tip-off from the tribals of Bellathi Village in Kundah that some strangers have been hunting and cooking Sambar deer meat, the forest officials conducted a surprise inspection and caught four people red-handed.
Saravanan, Deputy Conservator along with Forest Ranger and other officials arrested Ramesh, Rangasamy, Nagesh and Saravanan. Meanwhile, Krishnan one other accused fled from the spot.
When enquired, the offenders confessed that they did not hunt the deer but they spotted the deer dead. Hence, decided to cook the meat. All four accused were later arrested and remanded.
