Coimbatore : After more than three years, an elephant killer who has so long been on the run, was arrested by the Coimbatore forest officials today.
The accused Rajendran, who was being searched by officials in connection with an elephant killing case in 2016, was picked by at the Periyanaickenpalayam bus stand in the outskirts of the city.
According to sources, Rajendran had reportedly involved in planting a county bomb in Periyathadagam, which resulted in the killing of an elephant calf on the 29th of July, 2016.
While other persons in connection with the case were arrested, Rajendran had managed to escape, following which a special team was formed to nab him.
On Friday, A team headed by Periyanaickenpalayam Ranger Suresh and Forester Sarammal spotted him at the Periyanaickenpalayam bus stand and arrested him on the spot.
He was later produced before a magistrate and remanded in custody.
