Coimbatore : The Velayuthampalayam Police have filed a FIR on the people who hurled slippers on Kamal Haasan on Wednesday when he was campaigning in Tirupparankundram assembly constituency in Madurai.
Coimbatore : The Velayuthampalayam Police have filed a FIR on the people who hurled slippers on Kamal Haasan on Wednesday when he was campaigning in Tirupparankundram assembly constituency in Madurai.
The offenders have been booked in a case by Velayuthampalayam Police, under sections l P.S.Cr.No. 160/19 u/s.153(A), 147, 148, 355, 506(ii) IPC. Eleven people, including BJP workers and members of another outfit, Hanuman Sena are reported to have been named in the police complaint.
The complaint was filed by Snehan, Makkal Needhi Maiam's Zonal Secretary, Alwarpet.
In his complaint, Snehan had alleged that a group of offenders from BJP and other Hindu outfits not only hurled slippers on Kamal Haasan but also threatened to kill him. They raised slogans praising Modi and vowed to create tension at all places were Kamal campaigns.
Reacting to his complaint, the Velayuthampalayam police have filed a FIR.
The slipper attack came three days after Makkal Needhi Maiam's President, Kamal Haasan remarked "Independent India's first extremist was a Hindu", referring to Mahatama Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse.
