Kamal Haasan denied permission for Sulur Campaign

Coimbatore: Citing security reasons, the Sulur election officer has denied permission for Makkal Needhi Maiam's President Kamal Haasan's to campaign in Sulur on May 17.

Coimbatore: Citing security reasons, the Sulur election officer has denied permission for Makkal Needhi Maiam's President Kamal Haasan's to campaign in Sulur on May 17.

In a letter seeking permission for Kamal Haasan to campaign at Sulur on May 17, the district election officer has replied denying permission for the  actor-politician to campaign due to security reasons.

The denial of permission has created a stir among the cadres of MNM who strongly feel that the ruling party have played their cards to stop their Party President meet the public of Sulur on the last day of the by-poll campaign.

Kamal Haasan's comment about Nathuram Godse being “free India’s first extremist” drew criticism from BJP and AIADMK. However, the actor-politician retaliated by saying what he spoke was 'historical truth'.

The Delhi High Court also refused to entertain a public interest litigation plea filed by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay against Haasan’s remarks. The Chennai High Court also rejected a plea filed by Advocate Saravanan to ban Kamal Haasan from campaign.
