Coimbatore: People across all religions gathered on Sunday here at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind's 'Iftar' and sent a strong message on communal harmony prevailing in the City.
Coimbatore: People across all religions gathered on Sunday here at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind's 'Iftar' and sent a strong message on communal harmony prevailing in the City.
Emphasising religious harmony, Hindus and Christians gathered at the Islamic Matriculation school near Karumbukadai to observe the Iftar, a post-fast meal during the holy month of Ramadan.
‘Iftar’ began with a homage to all the victims of terrorist attacks including the recent Sri Lankan bombing victims.
P.S Umar Farooq, District President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind gave the keynote address. He strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out globally in the name of Islam. One has to read the holy quoran or the preachings of Nabigal Nayakam to understand the basis on which Islam is built on. Islam preaches and believes in peace and humanity."
"People of various religions live with utmost dignity in this nation. India is known for it's diversity. However, due to political gains, people have been injected with anti-communal thoughts which leads to hatred among religions. People should break the shackles and exhibit love and compassion irrespective of caste, creed and religion", said V.S. Mohammed Ameen, Spokesperson of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
He also added that "Due to the false information propagated in some media, people are misguided. Islam is not what the media portrays."
Siravai Aadhenam Kumara Kurubara Swamigal, Sivathma Guruji, Advocate Nandakumar (universal brotherhood), Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan, Chairman, Suguna group of companies and President of ICCIC and other dignitaries were present.
