Owing to safety and maintainence issues, the 'Pine Forest' one of the most-sought sight-seeing locations in Ooty was closed down on July 2018.
The pine forests are located between the Ooty to Thalaikundha stretch and is most sought by trekkers and nature enthusiasts.

As the pathway in the pine forest were very steep and slippery, the forest department decided to renovate the terrain for the safety of the tourists and closed down the facility last July.
Presently, the pine forests wear a new look as handles and benches are laid using pine trees for the tourists to walk safely and rest.

'Muthanadu Mandhu' a NGO working for environmental development has been entrusted with the maintainence work of the Pine forests.
