Coimbatore : The CPI State Secretary, Mutharasan in his Sulur election campaign accused the ruling State government of lending support to the prime accused in the Pollachi sexual abuse and extortion case issue. He also slammed the Chief Minister Edappady Palaniswamy as a social adversary.
Mutharasan who was campaigning for the DMK candidate, Pongalur Palanisami in Bharathinagar, which comes under the Sulur ward said “PM Modi has failed to keep his promises on increasing farmers income, creating employment opportunities for 2 crore youngsters and contributing 15 lakhs into the bank accounts of people. The Prime Minister is now only trying to garner support by distracting people with statements over problems rather than showing his achievements, if any, on the previous election promises within his five-year regime."
In his rally, the CPI secretary also mentioned the offensive commentary by Modi over late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his family. "Modi evicted the TN people’s rights and the NEET exam has brought injustice to us. ADMK ministers promise to prohibit NEET exams once they win the election but the Central ministers have stated that they will retain it. In the same way, the eight-lane corridor was another red mark in their ledger. Even though people who protested were silenced by force, the Court put an end to their work with its judgement. Anbumani Ramadoss took the credit for this protest and the judgment, but later in the same district, Nitin Gadkari assured of completing the project where Anbumani was sitting, with no words to speak. The Government has also planned to work on Hydro Carbon wells in many spots across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The Union CM of Puducherry, Narayanaswamy has assured of not permitting the project while our State CM and Deputy CM have spoken nothing against it. This project will rupture Tanjore district, rendering it infertile but the Edappadi government is not ready to take any further action against it. Even the youngsters of Tamil Nadu have not been helped. There are 85 lakh unemployed youth in the State but people from the Northern states are given employment within the government precinct which is another issue that this Government has not taken into account," alleged Mutharasan.
"The sexually exploited women of Pollachi have not been cared for by the Government. People involved in the assault of these women in Pollachi are all social adversaries, including the present Government and its CM Edappady who is never ready to take immediate action in such cases. That makes him a social adversary too. The police acted against us for interfering with the Thoothukudi issue. Then arises the question, what happened to Socialist Mugilan? This is a mystery, and the question of his whereabouts is a mystery to the CM too. Valarmathi, a student who protested against the Chennai-Salem green corridor was arrested for her social activities. The TN Government has ensured that their false activities should not be questioned by people, hence these arrests are made against those who raise their voices against the Government. Both the Central and State governments are not vouching to tackle the rising unemployment and education issues. It is time to send Modi and Padi home,” stated Mutharasan in his campaign onslaught against both governments.
