DMK ex-MP M Ramanathan (84) died in the early hours of Friday due to age-related illness. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
DMK President MK Stalin paid his final respects to the deceased DMK senior party leader on Friday, May 10, 2019. Several political leaders of DMK and other parties have expressed their grief over the death of the political veteran, who is known as 'Kovai Thendral'.
MDMK President Vaiko along with DMK Treasurer, Durai Murugan visited the family of Ramanathan and expressed their deepest condolences for their loss.
Addressing the media, Durai Murugan euologised that "Ramanathan is one among the few veterans who worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the party. His oratory skills cannot be matched. He could converse so eloquently in public meetings for hours together. He and DMK are inseparable."
"Kovai Thendral', Ramanathan was very instrumental in spreading the wings of DMK in the Kongu belt. Through his dedication and love for the party, he earned a unique place in the political circle. Until his last breath, he lived and worked for DMK. His death is a great loss for the party", expressed Vaiko.
Vaiko recalled that Ramanathan's exemplary oratory skills captivated the audience during public meetings.
Earlier, Vaiko and Durai Murugan paid floral tributes to late Ramanathan's portrait at his 4 residence in Chetty Veedhi in Raja Street.
