Coimbatore : Enlisting the welfare schemes introduced by Jayalalitha for upliftment of Women, O. Paneerselvam, Deputy Chief Minister addressed the people of J. Krishnapuram village which comes under Sulur assembly constituency on Saturday.
He appealed to the voters at J. Krishnapuram and nearby villagers to cast their votes for Kandhasamy, the AIADMK candidate for Sulur by-polls.
"Every household in the State has benefitted from the welfare schemes launched by our late CM Jayalalitha. From 8 grams gold for 'Thaali' to post pregnancy kits, to mixer grinders to scooty, to laptops to cycles, all the schemes have touched the lives of many. They were designed to improve the lives of the poor and not for publicity".
"Unlike DMK's welfare schemes which are mere publicity stunts, AIADMK's welfare schemes were aimed at betterment of the lives of the economically backward", said O. Paneerselvam.
"Is the DMK which alleges that EPS and OPS are trying to burn down Tamil Nadu to ashes, ready to speak about why and how they burnt down Dinakaran newspaper's office in Madurai?", the Deputy CM questioned.
The Deputy CM also cited incidents of DMK cadres and district committee members of the party threatening in restaurants asking for free parottas and biryani. "From yesteryears till today, DMK is known for their atrocities", he alleged.
Calling out DMK as their enemy and TTV Dinakaran's AMMK as treacherous, he noted that "AIADMK is trying to win this election amidst enmity and treachery".
