However, tourists were left disappointed since the rains forced them to stay indoors. Most of the arterial roads in Coonoor and Ooty were clogged with rain water, thus affecting traffic.
"For the fourth consecutive day, the catchment areas of Pykara, Ralliah, Emerald and Upper Bhavani dams witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall resulting in an increase in the water level of these dams. If these rains continue for over a week, the water scarcity problems that used to plague Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and surrounding villages during summer, will be resolved," opined an official from PWD.
