Government orders closure of TASMAC shops during by-election and vote counting day

A Government Order has been passed to TASMAC shops operating in all five districts in the State, where by-elections are to be held. It states, “The Government has directed that with a view to ensure free, peaceful and smooth conduct of by-elections in Sulur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram and Ottapidaram assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, the IMFL retail vending shops and bars attached to them should remain closed all across Coimbatore, Karur, Madurai, Thoothukudi and Tiruppur districts, from 10 am on May 17 to 12 am on May 19 (Poll day) and on May 23 (Day of counting votes).

The Senior Regional Managers, District Managers and Depot managers of all the five districts should ensure that all the IMFS Depots, retail vending shops and bars attached to them should be closed on the following days

1.     17.05.2019 – Friday (dry day due to by-election)

2.     18.05.2019 – Saturday (dry day due to by-election)

3.     19.05.2019 – Sunday (dry day due to poll day)

4.     23.05.2019 – Thursday (dry day due to the counting of votes)

All the officers addressed above are hereby directed to adhere to the instructions given by the Government that the IMFS Depot, all retail vending shops and bars attached should be closed on the above-mentioned dates without any deviation. Any failure in this regard will be viewed seriously.”
