Coimbatore: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Chief, Kamal Haasan stated that conducting by-election in all four legislative constituencies has brought immense joy to MNM.
Addressing the media in Coimbatore, Kamal Haasan responded to the allegations by Vijayakumari, the wife of a MNM functionary, Balamurugan who died recently. She had petitioned the Collector to ban Kamal Hassan from campaigning for the Sulur by-election. Kamal Haasan clarified, "Someone has instigated her from behind. This is not the voice of a woman who just lost her husband. Saying that none from MNM have reached out to her family is a false allegation. Some middlemen have interfered which has led to this controversy. I did not even go to the death of a relative who died recently. With the situation being as such, allegations like this cannot be accepted."
Regarding the delay in the release of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Kamal Haasan said, "Both the State and Central Governments are speaking as per their wish. The Governor should make a decision on this issue." On the claim of the DMK members that a change a regime will take place after the election, Kamal Haasan commented, "The DMK members are wishing for themselves."
