Coimbatore: Ahead of the World Environment Day being celebrated on June 5, Thenkailaya Bhakthi Peravai is organizing a cleaning drive at Velliangiri Mountains on May 12, 19 and 26.
Thenkailaya Bhakthi Peravai is a Trust created by devotees of the Velliangiri Mountains. The Trust creates awareness among the public and Velliangiri devotees about the sacredness of Velliangiri Mountains, encouraging the public to undertake a holy pilgrimage to the Mountains instead of a trek or a tour. Apart from this, the Trust also maintains the sanctity of the Velliangiri Mountains by protecting it from polluting plastics. For the past nine years, the Trust, devotees, volunteers and the general public have been involved in cleaning the pathway of the hills.
As a part of the cleaning drive this year, the Trust is organizing a special cleaning drive on three consecutive Sundays - May 12, 19 and 26, on account of the upcoming World Environment Day. Volunteers of Isha Foundation, devotees of Velliangiri Mountains and general public plan to participate in this cleaning drive.
