The tourists who have gathered in the district to enjoy the pleasant weather and to visit the tourist spots were left disappointed, as heavy rains lashed Ooty around Thursday noon and continued till evening.
All the tourist spots including the boat house and rose garden wore a desolate look. Especially the arterial roads in Ooty including Charring cross, Commercial Road and the market areas were clogged with storm water.
Due to heavy rains, as a precautionary measure, boating at the Ooty Boat House was suspended for over two hours. The tourists expressed disappointment, as they had to stay indoors.
However, the summer showers brought much relief to the farmers of the region, especially tea planters.
