Coimbatore: Aathi Tamilar Peravai Founder, Adhiyaman who campaigned for Pongalur Palanisamy, the DMK candidate contesting from the Sulur legislative constituency stated that Karunanidhi was the one who allocated 3 percent reservation to the Arunthathiyar community.
Adhiyaman who campaigned at a colony in Sulthanpet union said, "Many from the Arunthathiyar community have become doctors and engineers owing to the 3 percent reservation policy meant for them. Such reservation is not implemented in any state in India. Two states had tried to bring in the policy but it was stayed by the Court. But they could do nothing to the scheme brought in by Kalaignar since he was known for bringing in welfare schemes for the public.
Kalaignar had planned to increase this quota to 6 percent and if it had been implemented, the number of doctors from this community which is now at 80 could increase up to 160. Karunanidhi was the one who constituted the Sanitary Workers Welfare Association and the Skin Welfare Association for cobblers. He had also opened a ‘ninaivu mandapam’ for the freedom fighter Otti Veeran. The 'Ninaivu mandapam' will be opened for Pollaan who is the commander for Kongu Veeran and Theeran Chinnamalai, if DMK comes to power," he reiterated.
"At the time of Thalapathi’s campaign, he had assured that 3 cents land will be allocated to the Arunthathiyar community and 'samudhaaya koodam' will also be opened. Among the promises of DMK, the 100 day employment scheme will be extended to 150 days. 5 sovereign gold will be provided. Jobs to 1 crore people in road work and employment opportunities for 50 lakh women will be provided. 75 percent of our people will be benefited from the scheme.
Did AIADMK which has been ruling for eight years bring about any schemes? Their only scheme is to burgle from people. We are here to point the party that will do good for the people. People should cast their votes to 'Rising Sun,' stated Adhiyaman. Following this, he campaigned at 10 places including Kumarapalayam, Pachchaarpalayam and Malaippalayam.
