Postpaid mobile phone services restored in Kashmir

Postpaid mobile phone services were restored on Monday night in violence-hit Kashmir, seven days after the services were snapped as a precautionary measure.

“With the improvement in the situation, it has been decided to restore postpaid mobile telephony from tonight,” a police spokesperson said.

The mobile telephone service (voice calls and SMS facilities) were restored at 9.30 pm.

These services were suspended on September 12, a day ahead of Eid-ul Azha in view of the separatists’ call for march to the local office of UN military observers group.

Mobile internet services, however, continue to remain suspended for third consecutive month.

These services were snapped in July in the aftermath of killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces.
