MLA N. Karthik seeks better compensation for land owners

MLA N. Karthik along with the residents of SIHS Colony, Bharathi Nagar petitioned to the District Collector T.N. Hariharan, seeking better compensation for landowners, under the Coimbatore airport expansion project.

MLA N. Karthik reported to the press that, the land survey work presently carried out at the Bharathi Nagar has shocked the residents as they are not provided with prior notices. The compensation announced by the officials for acquiring their lands is very meager and the officials have been reinstating that the proposed budgets does not allow more compensation.

Hence, he insisted that the residents should be fairly compensated for their lands and prior intimation should be given about land surveys and all allied acquisition process. The protests would get stronger, if the officials do not respond to their pleas.
