Coimbatore : The Negamam police are on the lookout for a fake doctor named Muthulakshmi following the death of a woman to him she administered treatment for abortion. Presently, the fake doctor I reported to have absconded.

Selvaraj and Vanithamani (37) a couple from Negamam had approached Muthulakshmi, a fake doctor in Vadasithoor, Pollachi for terminating a pregnancy. The couple already have five children, and as Vanithamani got pregnant again, they decided to terminate the pregnancy.

On April 28, Muthulakshmi administered an injection to Vanithamani to terminate the pregnancy. It is reported that immediately after she was given an injection, Vanithamani's condition became critical.

Muthulakshmi has then asked Selvaraj to take her to Pollachi government hospital for further treatment. However, Vanithamani died on the way to the hospital.

Citing death under suspicious circumstances, the doctors at Pollachi GH directed to perform a post mortem and shifted the body to Coimbatore GH.

On Tuesday, Marimuthu son of the deceased had filed a case at Negamam police station urging to arrest the fake doctor Muthulakshmi for falsely administering treatment to her mother.

It is to be re-called that in 2017, the Additional Director of Health Department conducted a raid in Muthulakshmi's clinic in Vadasithoor and found that she did not possess any documents or certification from any of the medical institutes. And, she has been prescribing tablets and injections to people who visited her. Based on his findings, the health officer filed a case on Muthulakshmi at Negamam police station. However, the case did not progress thereafter.

The public are shocked to learn that how a fake doctor was allowed to practice in spite of complaints being filed on her by the health officials. And, why the police failed to initiate any action in her? Now, with the death of a woman, the public strongly urge the police to arrest the fake doctor and seal her clinic.
